Hawaii

Is it Really possible NOT to have a good time in Hawaii???

ALOHA!
ur 1st day in Waikiki was really fun! We stayed in a condo on the beach, and had wonderful ocean views from the lanai.Kevin took surfing lessons and rode the waves for about 4 hours. Rob & I pretty much stayed under the umbrella, and played around in the water. Kevin was so stoked when he got back--but later on he began to feel the effects of the terrible sunburn he got!

He had HUGE blisters on the backs of his legs. I really felt like he needed a doctor's care. He was in so much pain, bless his heart, that the rest of his vacation was really ruined. He could barely walk! or sleep comfortably. So he spent a lot of time under the air conditioner. But at least he can tell everyone that he went surfing!

Rob & he were already sunburned from their L.A. trip--then Robert caught a nasty head cold. That, along with the sunburns, made us cancel our snorkeling trip--which I REALLY wanted to do. Rob got sicker and sicker, so he & Kevin weren't able to do much of anything!!!! Can you imagine being bored in Hawaii? I was bored and the boys were sick.

Robert & I did go to the Polynesian Cultural Center, which was a 10-hour day, including the bus ride. It was o.k. and the luau was good. The show was fantastic. I didn't know it, but it is run by the Mormon church. The kids work there for a free education at the BYU campus there.

Oh, this all happened as the eye of a hurricane was heading toward us, and strengthening.Actually, nothing like a hurricane occurred whatsoever. a few light showers and a strong breeze was about it. But we were prepared to evacuate if necessary. Stupid us.-bought ponchos and extra food and water.--which of course we couldn't take on the plane with us because of Homeland Security. Don't even get me started on THAT.

Another highlight was a dinner cruise, which was pretty cool, since I had never been on a ship before.
Here's another highlight of our trip: on our last day, we had to check out by noon, but our flight didn't leave until 9:00 pm. So we rode the city bus to a movie theater! FUN!

We walked for miles--did lots of shopping--just like people do here in Las Vegas! -went to the Hard Rock and got t-shirts--the tourist things to do. The 7-11 convention wasn't great at all, and really, no one missed us when we skipped out on stuff. Everyone wants the convention to be here again this year. whooopeee!

We got home about 7 in the morning. That night I went to bed at 8 and didn't wake up until noon the next day! I have never slept that long in my life.

If you're thinking of going to Hawaii--I would suggest going in the fall or winter. The last time we went, the temp/humidity was great, and it wasn't nearly so crowded. Maui was quiet, so we will probably go there again, as well as the Big Island.

So anyway, mahalo for reading my blog! And ALOHA!

I am so glad you are home safe. I of course worried about you and the hurricane. I didn't think the hurricane would be there but I thought you would get lots of rain to keep you in. Little did I know it would be sunburned legs and a cold. :o) I am sorry that happened.

Sounds like a wonderful trip. I am glad you got to go and thanks for sharing all about it. Keep sharing. :o

Love you all.
